0702, Tue, 052212.      Honeymoon Cove-south.     One of our favorite anchorages.

We got some wind last night.  I didn't check the anemometer but I would guess it to be in the double digits easily.  It was out of the east so we were well protected and it was pretty steady so we didn't get a lot of jostling around, just had to listen to the whistling through the rigging and the sound of the wind generator pumping power into the batteries.  This morning it is back to looking like a millpond out there.

First thing in the morning was to go pick up Russ and Janet and get them to land.  They are off to visit the family in Texas.  We gave our hugs and bid our bon voyage.  We are going to miss those two.

We picked up some gasoline for the dinghy, deposited our garbage and checked out the book selection in at the Yacht Club, then back to Neos.  When we got back, our neighbor was out on deck so we thought we would say good-bye.  Richard, on Trinity, is a funny guy to talk too.  He seems to have a smile all the time and is full of funny little stories.  He is simply in love with Neos so when we invited him over for a look. He was real reluctant, said he was afraid he would hate his boat after a tour of Neos.  Chatting with Richard delayed our leaving by about an hour, but we were in no hurry.

By 11am we were gone, free of the crowded mooring field.  We had planned on sailing with the wind but there wasn't any to speak of so we motored.  We hadn't had a chance to stay in our favorite spot at the island right across the channel since there were so many people in the area for Loreto Fest making it impossible to get into the one boat anchorage.  It was open, so we headed over.  Winds are from the south the next couple of days so this spot is perfect.  It has great swimming, with little rocky areas on each side of the cove with plenty of fish to watch, so snorkeling will be fun.  We jumped in the water a couple of times and enjoyed every minute of it.  The water is a bit cool when you first jump in but very nice to stay in once you catch the breath.

We have been getting really lousy reception lately on the SSB.  Sue mentioned the ground plate under the boat looked like it was covered with barnacles.  With the new paint on the boat, the boat has stayed very barnacle free so I haven't been around to check the little things.  The ground plate looked like some kind of habitat with little crabs and layers of barnacles.  Wow, once cleaned off, we now get great reception.

Of course we played cards.  I didn't win but I really made Sue work hard for her win.  That makes it more fun than getting trounced.  I got mixed up on our movies in yesterday's report.  We watched the fourth episode of Pirates of the Caribbean.  I thought they did an excellent job, maybe one of the best.  Good to see some of the old characters with a little twist to them.  I would put this on your must see list.  Last night we watched the remake of Planet of the Apes.  It is much more realistic than the old ones with the computer animated animals.  It has lots of shootem ups and booms in typical Hollywood style, but other than that is was interest.  I wouldn't pass this one up but hard pressed to put it in the same league as Pirates….more later..
