We met Ryan for lunch today and had a great visit. He is busier than ever at work and was glad to get a away for a short respite at Chipotle's. Pretty doggone good for Mexican fast food! We enjoyed our lunch with him and hope to do it often.
With Max's school schedule on minimum days we thought it would be fun to spend the afternoon with him. He likes to be surprised on his special days as to what we are doing, so we came up with all sorts of funny ideas, like watching the grass grow or watching the signals turn from red to green. We needed to go by the library to drop off a book that was due so he kind of thought that was going to be the special trip, which he was just fine with. Then we arrived at the place. It is one of those centers that takes in exotic animals that have been abused or have outgrown their cute pet stage in life. Max was excited. He had visited before but never to the back rooms where all the really kewl animals live. The lobby has tortoises the size of baseballs all the way up to a giant tortoise. There were lots of tarantulas and a couple of lizard/crocodile guys. Max was loving it. Then we got to go into the back rooms where they had loads of snakes, iguanas and other lizard looking things. The guide was very knowledgeable and brought out lots of the reptiles for viewing.
Next room was full of birds, all squawking for attention. One cockatiel was a real character, bouncing up and down all the while fluffing his feathers. Wouldn't you know, his name was Max. The next room was filled with your big birds, scarlet macaws, blue and gold macaws, and lots of smaller guys, again, all squawking for attention. The next, and last room was filled with fish tanks, a lot quieter.
I think Max was quite surprised and had loads of fun, we certainly did
more later..
