We had a busy day. I guess that is a good excuse for a little sleep in this morning. We started out running around town and can now officially say we have completed our shopping for the season. I am proud to say that we never really got stuck in any horrible traffic jams as well, but the season isn't over in that regard.
We made several trips through the new Downtown Rocklin: they have just opened the new road through town. They are now the first in the area to sport not one, but two roundabouts. It is a little tricky yet since people aren't used to how they work but I think in the long run they are great, no stop lights. The waiting is over for these two intersections. As you enter you need to yield to the traffic already in the circle, then once in the circle you have the right of way. Way better than signals.
The afternoon was taken up with our house inspection. Not being too impressed with boat inspectors I opted to do my own home inspection. I sent Sue off with a continuity checker to check all the plugs, lights, and to see if the HVAC put out heat and cold and to see if all the vents worked. I stuck my head into the attic, checked the electric panel, inspected the kitchen, garage, and exterior. We didn't come up with anything that shocked us.
Nowadays you don't only get a disclosure from the owner, you get one from the selling agent as well as the buyers agent. Now there's something I would trust. It sounds like the lawyers have really bogged this down as well.
Then to top off the evening we took a walk around our neighborhood. We used to drive down from Meadow Vista (half hour) just to see all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood on the block behind our apartments. It is one of those places where every house is lit up for about a half dozen blocks. It is really a great show. With hot chocolate in hand we toured half of the neighborhood saving the other half for another time
more later..
