0840, Sun, 113014. Rocklin, CA.

I've veen trying to figure out how to cut crown molding at the proper angle. The molding sits at an odd angle, 30 degrees. It would be simple if it was 45 degrees. It isn't hard to cut the angle, simply put the trim in the miter box upside down and make your compound angle cut. The problem is the motor on the saw. Oh, and also my saw only makes a compound angle in one direction. The answer was to find an old fashion miter box that runs on elbow grease. I don't think they even make these things anymore, but I thought I might have seen one at the Restore. We were off to look. Sure enough I found one. It looked in pretty good shape except for years of neglect. I thought I would have to pay a fortune but it was a steal at 35 bucks. I brought it home and put and hour or so of clean up into it and with a few jigs here and there I was in the business of cutting good crown molding angles. I only cut one so far so keep those fingers crossed for a good outcome on the rest.
Sue has been busy decorating the house for the holidays. It is so festive.....more later..
