February 12, 2015

0712, Thu, 021215. Rocklin, CA.

My first shoji door went together without too many hitches. There are lots of little delicate pieces so it takes some time to fit them all together but I think I have the hang of it. Door number two is already starting out much easier.
We visited with Michelle and Karissa. Poor Michelle thought she would be able to get Max to school on time for a change since they are finally over the hump with their colds only to discover a dead battery. It was a year ago when she was saving me with a dead battery. I headed over and gave her a jump start and they were off.
Karate was great, we are over a dozen students that are pretty regular. It makes teaching more interesting. Still the student myself, Jay and I put together more understanding of our favorite kata (form). This is the kata that is studied over and over, more that the rest of the kata. We happen to share the same form. One of the ending moves has always been a bit hard to understand and I think we made a huge breakthrough last night....more later..
