0725, Wed, 032515. Munjack Cay, Bahamas.

After a calm day yesterday the wind has picked up once again. We had left the skiff on the other side of the island at Bob and Jane's place because it was too rough to get around the point so this was the day to go get it. Phil did a little hunting on the way back and picked up another fish and a lobster.
Mid day we road over to Green Turtle, about a half hour, and enjoyed a great lunch looking out across to Abaco in the distance. The Lazy Turtle is a new place right on the waterfront all fixed up with a new beach area and lots of palm trees. I had a grouper burger and a beer, very enjoyable.
Green Turtle hasn't changed a bit. Aside from a new paint job here and there it is the same ole place. I recognized the same faces in the shops as well. Some of the little tourist boutiques are gone since the recession really hit their tourist trade but all the groceries and hardware stores are hanging in there.
It was a bit disappointing to see they are now charging a sales tax, 7.5 percent and soon to go up. The girl at the hardware store was rather disappointed saying it wouldn't be so bad if they would help them out a bit. The roads are in dire need of repair. So paradise catches up with reality everywhere....more later..
