We left our camp spot at Sherado Lake Park and stopped by the lake on our way out out of the park so we wouldn't make a bunch of noise for those who wanted to sleep in. We made coffee and then were off down the road, headed for the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the way we stopped to fuel up then headed down the Blue Ridge Parkway. Really a nice ride through of luscious green woods with a view coming into sight as we looked out over the Shenandoah Valley. About a half hour into the trip Tess started to cough and sputter. I thought it might be water in the fuel but there is also a possibility I may have put gas in the tank instead of diesel. We are hoping for the best but have yet to hear back from the shop. Anyhow, we sputtered our way down into town and made it to Ken and Roberta's, our friends from cruising days who we haven't seen in years.
They gave us a tour of old town including a great ferry ride across the river. Old town was fun with little shops to poke your head into and see some of the local wares. Lunch was eaten at Fishy Fishy right on the waterfront where we could watch the sailboats tacking their way out of the marina. Then we headed back to the house and enjoyed a great BBQ dinner and a game of Chicken Foot.
Today, more touring of town with a stop at Cold Stone for an ice cream and some shopping at Walmart. Too bad though, I didn't notice the Starbucks across the street until I had my ice cream in hand.
We won't know our progress for a bit until we hear from the shop on the prognosis of the van so keep those fingers crossed.....more later.
