0626, Fri, 041610. Not quite as adventuresome as the day before but still pretty busy. We started the chores to make Neos presentable to sell. Waxing. Pulling the buffer out of the moth balls and bringing the generator top side started the process with waxing the top of the solon. Not too big of a job to get started but big enough to work out the kinks in our system and bodies as well. It sure looks great once done, all sparkly and shiny. It was really odd later in the day. We had gone over to the bar/internet area and Sarah from Shannon came by with a computer in hand. She was asking for a buffer. Well of course we both thought she wanted a buffer for the computer. Not. It turned out she was looking for a buffer to polish a boat. She is crewing on one of the boats in the marina and is trying to give the boat a much needed wax job. We tried to work out something with schedules and buffing rags etc, but it sounded like she was after something even bigger than what we had. I told her she sounded like Tim on Tool Time and expected to see her out there with a small out board motor with a buffer attached to the end. Sue and I dropped by the boat later and were real impressed with the section she had done. Not quite sure what kind of results she is after on a boat that hasn't been waxed in years. Timing was real strange on this request since we hadn't used the buffer in ages and she had no idea what we had been up to. We ended up offering the use of our machine if she could figure out new pads and such. It sounds like she will end up making a trip to town to find just what she is after.
Having done internet, and noticing that the usual group wasn't anywhere around the pool (No net on the VHF today: three couples went on tour while two others went into the dentist.), we headed into the office for an ice cream. They have a big freezer with lots of goodies, Sue was in her element. We sat outside the office to enjoy the ice cream and watch the entertaining Macaws. The green bird was high in the tree alone while the two multi colored birds were together on a much lower branch in a tree next to where we were sitting. As they gave us the eye, and let out an occasional squawk, the curiosity finally got to them. They made their way down to the ground, not always real graceful with a slippery beak to hold on with, and across to us looking for a hand out. They were a bit miffed when Sue said they were both pigeon toed, turned tail and left.
So did we. On our way back past the pool we met up with Tim once again and met his wife for the first time (busy with two little boys). Then the two couples showed up who had made the trip to the dentist and were all smiles with shiny teeth. We all chatted for a bit, then we were off to get a bucket of water via the dink at the dock and then back to Neos.
We heard through the coconut telegraph that a big volcano has erupted in Iceland. We were told the air traffic has been disrupted all through much of Europe. Anyone know anything about that? We don't get much up to date news.
Back on board we settled in to see if Jack has saved the day, finding the big bomb in LA. That stretches on. The excitement that is built into the story line probably works much better when spread out over forty minutes, once a week, but when you take out the ads and watch a couple of episodes every night it can get over the top. Still very entertaining though…..more later..
