0650, Sat, 041710. More waxing, it sure looks good. We lucked out yesterday being busy, a group of dinghies went for a ride up river and took one of the small channels to explore through the mangroves. As they ventured along they were attacked by bees. Before they could get the three boats turned around and out of there several of them got stung a few times. John on Sunsation got the worst of it. He took about twenty or so hits to the head and passed out. They switched him to the dink with the largest engine and high tailed it back to the marina, dosed him with Benadryl, and he was be fine, just a bit uncomfortable and sleepy for awhile. We have been up little channels all along our adventure and have never seen any bees. A bit scary.
Well, that was the talk around the swimming pool today. Everyone is back in town and so we had quite a group once again. Tim gave us an update on the volcano in Iceland. It sounds like it is wreaking havoc in the European area. Someone mentioned the volcano in Guatemala the other day that erupts. It wasn't until the evening that Sue remembered, that was the Arenal volcano we visited and watched spit boulders out the size of Volkswagons.
We met Vicky on Inspiration while at the pool. I think she is a solo sailor. She was talking about a mishap with a boat she was sailing with. They came around a point at night just as there was an eclipse of the moon. A barge going the other way shut off all their lights to get the full effect of the eclipse so was rendered invisible. Vicky's partner boat made a glancing blow off the barge, whew! So lots of tales were being told around the pool.
We watched a local catamaran beach itself on the sand bar, looked pretty easy really. So we still look forward to that project.
I hate to even mention it but Sue's winning streak gets even better. She played two shut out games in a row, She with zero and minus five while my score soared into the mid hundreds. She is definitely hot. We took in a couple more "24s" and they still haven't stopped the bomb, oh no. We missed our nice quiet night's sleep last night. The fish that eat at the rocks and coral also like to go after all the goodies that grow on the underside of the boat. One such fish found a good spot right next to my head and kept me awake for a good portion of the night. They don't work away constantly, more like someone knocking several times and then waiting until you just start to doze and then knocking again. Sue finally got up and found the earplugs for us, much better…..more later..
