0707, Fri, 052011. We hung around Bahia San Gabriel bouncing like a cork. Waves were coming through that almost looked big enough to surf on. There just isn't any protection around here when the winds come out of the west. It finally settled sometime around mid to late morning and as usual the wind seemed to stop like someone threw the switch. It was time to move on.
We motor sailed across the San Lorenzo Channel and back to the La Paz peninsula to Puerto Balandra. We were one of two boats so we had our choice of spots. We slipped into our favorite place and dropped the hook in sand. We enjoyed a great afternoon but when evening came around, wow, we were back to those west winds and we were bouncing around worse than the night before. We peeked out at the other boats in the anchorage, by this time we have about a half dozen, and the monohulls were swinging like giant pendulums. We were thankful we weren't aboard them. Sometime, shortly after going to bed it calmed down and we were able to get a wonderful night's sleep.
We got word from Naomi and Andrew. They have finally broken loose and are headed our way. Only problem, they will miss Jimbo by one day. Bob is still working on the engine but it sounds like he is happy with the mechanic, always a good sign.
We played plenty of cards last night but once again I didn't win, But, I didn't lose one game, I came in second. Can I consider that a win?......more later.
