SUE HAS POSTED THE APRIL LOG WITH PICTURES. Check it out at lloydjourney-neos.blogspot.com
Happy Birthday, Eric!!!! We woke to find that with the crazy tide pushing one direction and the wind pushing from the other, Neos worked her way over to the big boat next to us. Nothing too close just close, just close enough to give you a start when you look out the window. So without haste the coffee was made, the anchor was up, and we were out of there, fighting the current coming in the channel until we were clear of the island.
We went up the line to Bahia Falsa and found Dockwise still in place. It was fun to see the big ship up close as we slipped past into the back corners of the bay. This was just a day stop due to the angle of the bay being open to the night winds. So Jim and I, waiting until the sun warmed us, jumped into the cool waters and did some snorkeling as we collected mussels and scallops. We ended up with a small bucket full, mostly muscles, and cooked them up in wine, butter, and garlic. It was a great addition to the night's snack. Later in the afternoon we picked up anchor and moved over to Caleta Lobos and dropped the hook in good shelter for the night. The neighbor kept yelling over to us, same guy that was here last time crying out that we might drop our anchor on his. We tried to get him to switch to the radio but he just kept yelling. We finally jumped in the water and went for a swim only to find out he was trying to tell us that it got rolly on that side of the bay. We thought about it and then tried to anchor closer to his side but found the anchor just didn't like all the rocks and ended up right back where we started. Oh well, it turned out to be just fine.
I forgot to mention the other day that we got the glow plugs installed. Now this might not sound like a big deal but think what these little things went through to get here. Starting in Italy, they were shipped to Guadalupe in the Caribbean, then on to the big US, ending up in Rocklin CA. From there they were transferred to Auburn CA and brought to Puerto Vallarta, put on a ship and delivered to La Paz. Wow, how nice to crank the engine over and have it start instantly.
We happened to catch a sight of a boat leaving the harbor in La Paz with two dolphins jumping out of the water while chasing the boat……more later..
