0707, Thu, 050511. Cinco de Mayo. The celebration of the war against France. Mexico won because France was having trouble back home and needed to tend business there, so they left, Mexico won by default, ha.
Happy B'day Laura!!!
It started out real calm but as we went through our chores the wind picked up. Sue leaned over the side of the boat with the scrubber on a pole and cleaned the sides of Neos. I, on the other hand, went about popping in and out of the engine compartments. I was setting up new filters for the water maker, putting the belt in place to run the water maker, checking oil on both engines, tightening fan belts, adding oil to both engines, and cleaning a contact for the heat sensor, you know, just the usual maintenance routine. By the time we got done with chores the wind had picked up to a pretty good clip but we were bound and determined to go for a dinghy ride around the bay. The wind was on the cool side making the spray off the bow cold, but we kept going. Finally I short cutted across the bay seeing that there wasn't any wind in that leg of the bay. We found that part of the bay very shallow, so shallow that we couldn't dink through it even during high tide, of course high tide right now is only a foot higher than low tide so not a big difference. A little change from Panama City with their twenty foot tide. Well, the tour of the bay was a wash out, literally. We were getting wet, getting cold, so I just made a bee line back to the boat.
Our friendly fisherman came by again. This time he asked for 4 AAA batteries, but he brought fish, all cleaned and filleted to exchange for them. Not a bad deal. So we had fresh fish for lunch.
Later in the day I happened to look out at the water just as a turtle went for his dive right next to Neos. He had to be five feet across, one big turtle. Really kewl.
Movie time on Neos was the finishing up of Desperate Housewives, season four. Strange ending. As they recapped all the stories, going from one family to the next, it was a jump ahead five years, nothing seemed too out of the normal, the twins had been arrested for stealing a car, Brie's son was a regular business guy and her hubby was back home, but when they came to Susan, last in the long line of tying up storylines, they flashed on a different guy as she gave him a big hug and kiss upon entering her front door, wow…..more later..
