NOTE: Sue has posted her May log with pictures on our other blogspot site. Check it out at: lloydjourney-neos.blogspot.com
We started out our day with a run to the fuel dock. There were several boats already in line for fuel so we diverted for a little sightseeing. I mentioned that the area had started a housing development. It was to be complete with channels of water between the homes. The channels are about ninety percent finished so we took a little dinghy ride through the area. Somebody lost a lot of money. The concrete sides were put in most of the channels as well as a couple of bridges leading to the islands. A lot of work was done here just to walk away from it. I have learned from other areas in Mexico that these things can be very political, a different president, a different set of rules. This may be what happened here.
We got to the fuel dock and while filling our jerry jugs we met some folks who commute here from Southern Cal for six months out of the year, been doing it for the last 23 years. We also caught up with the couple on Pandora, a boat we have been sharing anchorages with along the way but never getting a chance to meet until now. It was a bit tricky for them to get into the fuel dock. With a boat at each end they needed to squeeze in between so we grabbed their lines and pulled them in the last couple of feet. Stephanie and Harley were from Texas and had recently moved aboard full time as cruisers. They had a little poodle sidekick that didn't have a regular name, it changed daily with the mood of the dog. We shuttled our fuel back to the boat and then headed in for a day at the docks. Sue made her home in the cruiser's lounge and was busy most of the day getting business done on the computer. We did take a break for lunch upstairs at a classy little overpriced restaurant, but the food was good as well as the service, oh and the view wasn't so bad either looking out across the bay. We took advantage of their showers and enjoyed just letting the water run while lathering up, what luxury. I got a lot of reading done, a story that takes place amongst the Amish. Very interesting learning about their culture within a culture.
Later in the evening it became movie time, Houdini with Katherine Zeta Jones. No she wasn't Houdini, but I haven't ever seen the guy before. It was well done, about the final days of Houdini's life and a love affair with Katherine…..more later..
