We are supposed to get some north winds out in the middle of the Sea that will probably kick up the swells around here. With this in mind we have taken up anchorage on the south side of Isla Coronados, a new spot to us.
But first. We woke to flat seas and made a snap decision, as we laid in bed waking up, to head to Loreto to do some restocking of fresh fruit and veggies. Breakfast under way and just a cup of Joe to get started, the anchor was up and we were rolling in no time at all. As we entered the anchorage we got a big "Hello Neos" from Mike on Compass Rose. He was just heading into town the same time we were. He was great company, a single sailor, and quite anxious to talk to someone. The walk into town went quickly, shopping got done, a quick stop at the ice cream shop on the way back, and back to Neos. We bid bon voyage to Mike and headed off to Isla Coronados. What a show.
We had front row seats for the matinee. While sitting on the back step of Neos a pod of dolphins came by, jumping, dodging, slapping tails, not more than thirty feet off our tail. I had spotted the pod about a mile off and we watched as they passed by and headed about a mile down the other direction, what a show. Next were the turtles. An entire herd, heading the opposite direction. I counted at least a dozen of these guys lollygagging along as they passed in the opposite direction. After a while we were entertained by a group of grebes. These are little guys, small enough to fit in you palm, and they hang out in groups of a dozen or more. They swim along, then all of a sudden the entire group will disappear under water. The water is so clear here we could see them as they dove. They went really deep. Then they all start to break the surface together and paddle along until the next call to the bottom.
Oh, and I must mention the gull convention that seems to be continuous here along the shore. It sounds like a big meeting, gawk, gawk, gawk, almost like they are laughing at us. I have heard these guys in lots of anchorages but this group is so big they never stop calling. One gets started and the whole group has to join in. What a fun place.
With all the activities going on, we did manage to get in a game of boggle. Competition was low and we were doing well. It was fun to be on the same team for a change, so we both won. We have now finished up with the forth season of the Sopranos. Tony is really in a fix. All of his philandering has finally caught up with him so his wife gave him the boot
more later..
