0654, Tue, 050812.     Puerto Escondido in the Waiting Room.     Puerto Escondido is like a big lake with a little opening.  Outside the opening is a little bay that is a "U" shape and is very deep.  People used to drop the hook in this area waiting for the tide to shift in order to get through the narrow opening.  Nowadays there are two camps (oh the politics).  The people on the moorings inside and those on the moorings outside.  Technically they aren't moorings in the waiting room since it is against the rules to have a mooring in the area.  Since the bottom runs over sixty feet deep there are only a few spots shallow enough to anchor so people have put in their own "anchoring systems".  We have been fortunate to know some connections that got us a spot here for a few days.   We spent the early morning hours cutting out the pieces for our boat shade on the wide concrete expanse in front of the marina, then moved the boat from the mooring out to the waiting room.

It was a steady flow of boats leaving yesterday.  Usually stopping at the fuel dock and then out to the Sea.  We hooked up with Russ and Janet in the afternoon for a walk down the road to the hotel/restaurant next door to the little tienda that Sue and I walked to the other day.  It is a nice place and they seem to welcome the cruisers.  It has turned hot, well on the hot side of warm, making it real nice to get a jump in a swimming pool.  Always nice to swim where you aren't part of the food chain.  The water had a little chill to it making for a nice refreshing dip.  We played a few rounds of Farkel (dice game) and I came from behind and took the win on the first round, hoorah!  Could this be MY game?

R and J came back to Neos with us and we got back into the Baja Rummy routine.  As usual, Russ and I jumped out in front only to get passed up by the girls at the end.  Whoeeee, they are good.

A new season at the Sopranos.  The Feds are moving in and Tony is having lots of trouble with his kids…..more later..
