0658, Sun, 061712. Happy Father's Day to all those Dads out there.
I forgot to give the dolphin report the other day. We had a great visit by a pod that I first sighted out in the middle of the channel. They sort of split into three smaller groups by the time they came in close with one up by Honeymoon Cove proper, another about midway between us and there and the third right next to Neos. We had about a half dozen or so in our little group including some real little guys. I happened to be watching when one of the dolphins got frisky and made a leap through the air clearing the water a good six feet with a jump through the air for about twenty feet. Sea World eat your heart out, ha.
I got back in the water to do some barnacle removal sans wet suit. We do have what is called a skin suit, a thin material that simply covers you from head to toe. I wore that since the other day I got wacked several times in the legs. Very light but irritating just the same. It is kind of like an electric shock when they hit and leaves an irritating sting for several hours. I put some hand lotion on after about an hour or so and that seemed to help. So, with the skin suit on, I managed to get the one hull complete before the current picked up and I found myself fighting to stay in place. Time to quit.
I'm into Dan Brown's last book, The Lost Symbol. It is like a rewrite of The Da Vinci Code but this one takes place in
I'm enjoying my little Kindle. Its best feature for me is the instant dictionary. As I read along, if I find a word I don't know, or want clarification, I can simply hold my finger on that word and it jumps to the definition. What a great tool. The most frustrating feature I find is when I get completely lost, my own dumb fault, it is very difficult to find your place again, but that is happening less and less. I set my kindle down to do something the other day and when I went to pick it up I grabbed the thing with my thumb on the page. This scanned the pages multiple times as I was picking the book up. Oh well, I will not do that again. The type can be adjusted to any size which I have found very comforting. I can read this much quicker than some of those books with yellowed pages and tiny print. But this is probably all familiar to you dirt dwellers out there. Us who live afloat don't get to see all those new fangled gadgets.
Well, I had to let her win at cards finally. I was afraid she might give up the game. I made her work for it though. She was way out ahead in the first round and I really came back strong in the second, and again in the third but not enough to take the win.
Another movie, X Men, First Class. Don't really know why they call it x "men". It is about an even mix of men and women. Interesting. Real life, not animated. Lots of special effects. Each has their own special powers, one group wants to work with the "normal" humans, the other wants to dominate. Interesting the reason for domination. They are afraid that the normal people will want to do them in for their special powers. Really makes sense
more later..
