0653, Thu, 041813.  La Paz.

 

Sue had to go back to the hospital one more time for her lab work results then make an afternoon visit for her consult with the doc.  This time I went with her to keep her company.  Once back, still no word about the guy picking up the chain.  We finally headed over to the office and asked the lady there if she would call Carlos and find out if he was going to show up.  Sure enough, his guys would be at Neos right after lunch. 

At two o'clock we got a call from the office that they were here.  Sue had to leave for her afternoon appointment for the consult so I handled the pick of the chain.  They showed up with a huge truck but that was no problem, they squeezed it in the exit of the parking lot and maneuvered around just fine.  The truck driver was pretty much worthless, maybe he was just that, the driver.  He didn't even place himself at the gate to help the other guy through.  Oh well.  The worker guy took out this dolly with a bent axle and we headed down to the docks.  He had to check in at the office for some reason, maybe they are required to check in and out, so I moved the dolly down to the next set of steps so it would be ready for him as he came out of the office.  The poor wheels didn't roll worth a hoot.  We got the heavy bucket of chain slid onto the dolly and after a couple of attempts got him going.  It was all he could do to keep the thing rolling.  He gained some speed so he didn't stall out on the bumps and then it was time to head up the ramp, ugh.  I quickly placed myself at the gate holding it open (I didn't just fall off the turnip truck) and he came running up the ramp.  His legs were hurting him so much I felt his pain.  He was dripping wet and I think done for the day.  We got the load on the lift gate and onto the truck and away they went. 

Later I got a call from the office that Carlos now had a proper amount for the cost and he needed an address.  Hopefully today we will connect with that as well as an account number to pay for the whole thing at the bank.  That's how you pay here in Mexico, direct deposit into the bank.

Sue got back around five or so and we spent the evening chatting.  Movie time came around and Yogi Bear was playing.  Cute movie, Yogi was up to his usual tricks.  Yogi's voice was off a bit but other than that he was in his usual form.  Check this out……more later..
