0724, Tue, 040913. La Paz.

We had some excitement in the morning.  Rock N Roll was pulled out of the water and put on the hard.  We were the official tug boat in our dinghy.  Of course the wind was blowing like crazy just to add to the excitement but it was slack tide, we will take that in our favor.  We had a plan, back the boat out to the right, swing the nose around, and out the slot to open water.  Monohulls have a prop walk, the direction the prop turns affects the direction the boat goes when in reverse.  Unfortunately for us it was the same direction the wind was blowing.  Ok, switch to plan B.  Turn the wrong way, facing away from open water, only because that was the only way the boat wanted to go.  Then make a complete turn around in the small space between the rows of boats.  Like making a three point turn in a car but make that an eight point turn dodging between all the bows of the boats sticking out.  Of course this brings out all the kibitzers from every nook and cranny on the dock.  The people on their boats look like deer in the headlights.  Instead of fending off, they would just watch with their mouths open as the boats got close.  Russ kept his cool, excellently I might add, as we buzzed around tugging here and there.  Poor Janet, at the wheel, was getting a bit over stimulated but we got them out of the tight spot and on their way.

They had to go in the sling (the machine that lifts the boat from the water) backwards which means they had to tie up to the dock after making another 180 degree turn in close quarters.  They got about half the turn done, one rope to the docks, then we pushed some more.

No collisions, all went well.  They are now on the hard ground and their cruising life is coming to a close.

Sue whipped together a dress the other day.  Like running a hot knife through butter after sewing all that heavy material on the dodger.  Almost too easy.  She is quite the seamstress.

It blew pretty good, we didn't think we would make it back for cards, but it calmed a little and we made a run in for what might be the last big card game.  Hurrah, The Black Knights finish with a smashing score.  I was hot.  Blew out all that good luck at once.

Last night's flick was Snow White and the Huntsman.  It had pretty good possibilities, maybe a tad long.  We enjoyed the whole thing…..more later..
