0708, Thu, 042313.   Caleta Lobos.

Yesterday was quite different than our usual day.  It all started out quite the same but changed as the day wore on.  Some time ago we got a response from someone in British Columbia, Canada about a trade for a house.  We went online and looked at the house and it looked real nice but British Columbia just would not get us any closer to our goal (and some really cold winters).

We got an e mail yesterday from Shawna saying they would be in the La Paz area for a couple of days and asked if they could come by and see Neos.  Luckily we were in the area, but not in La Paz so we wrote back and told them we would be glad to show off the boat.  They were headed to Las Cruces, on the coast over the hills toward the Sea of Cortez.  This sounded like an all day event so I didn't really expect to hear back, at least not that day.  We got an e mail about noon saying they could be in Balandra Bay at three.  Luckily Sue is such the tidy housekeeper, it didn't take a lot to whip Neos into shape.  We were anchor up and off to Balandra after lunch.

One little snag.  We don't have an outboard on the dink.  It seized up with salt around the driveshaft and is in the shop getting cleaned up.  I got out the inflatable (2 seater) kayak and headed in at the appropriate time.  I was going to have to make two trips in and two trips back.  Now that is an exercise program.  I made it in alright, hung around for a little until Shawna and Fernando showed up pretty much on time.  I let them flip the coin as to who got the first ride and they decided to let Shawna go first.  Fernando is quite a sport, he decided to walk out (at low tide this is almost halfway to the boat) and go for a bit of a swim.  I dropped Shawna off at Neos and went back to pick up Fernando.

We enjoyed their company and listening to their dreams and had a wonderful afternoon showing them around the boat.  They seemed to be real excited but have to see how they will come up with the cash.

Fernando jumped in the water and swam for shore while Shawna took the ride back.  We caught up with Fernando about half way back and hooked him up with a tow off the back of the kayak getting him back to shore.  We said our good byes and called it a day.

I raced back to Neos getting there just as a head wind shifted onto the kayak, I was pooped.  We lifted the kayak to the trampoline and raised the anchor for the quick trip back to Lobos.  The wind was up a little making it exciting to drop the hook, hit a rocky spot the first time so had to start all over and hooked up just fine the second try.

A busy day, two pooped people, the sun was going down, and we were calling it a day…..more later..
