0654, Wed, 081413.  Rocklin, CA.

Our morning started out watching the grandkids so our daughter could go visit with a friend.  The kids were lots of fun but I can see why we have them while we are young.  Max pulled out the football to get in some practice for school which starts in a week.  It was a big thing at recess last year so he wants to be ready for the new season.  He has gotten really good at playing catch over the last year I think he will do fine with his buddies.  He said his arm was getting tired so we switched up the game to bouncy ball, a little rubber ball a little bigger than a golf ball.  The only place to play is on the dirt in the back yard so you can imagine how many times the little ball actually makes it close enough to catch.  Lots of bending over and picking up the ball.  As I age, the ground is getting further and further away.  From bouncy ball we headed inside where Sue and Karissa were reading books.  Max and I ran cars back and forth the length of the living room trying to crash them in the middle.  Yeah, this sounds easy, but hanging around at the floor level isn't very comfortable at all.  I guess it all comes with age but I'm not ready to give in just yet.  It was a lot of fun to hang out with the little ones.

The afternoon was filled with looking at yet more couches.  There is a huge store in town called RT Willey's.  The place is as big as Home Depot.  After walking around looking at all the furniture we narrowed in on two couches but still ended up leaving empty handed.  Good thing, once Sue got home she looked them up online and both got bad reviews.  We then set out to look online at furniture.  With only a few really out there as exceptions, they really haven't done much with couches for years.  There are a lot that look just like something you would see on Leave It To Beaver.  Nothing seems to jump out and grab us.  The search goes on.

We had also made a run down to the town of Folsom, wow, has it been redone nicely.  Back in the old days of Meadow Vista we did a lot of furniture shopping at a little shop in Folsom that made a pilgrimage to Asia a couple of times a year, filled a container full of artifacts and brought them back to their shop.  We thought we would give them a visit.  Unfortunately the little sign saying they would be back in 20 minutes never got taken down so we were unable to do any shopping.  We did enjoy a walk about the old town discovering such things as the railroad that used to run a short distance in the area, The Sacramento Valley RR.  So away we went empty handed once again.

It was movie time so we pulled out the collection we had checked out from the library and watched a History Channel show on Greek Gods.  Very interesting.  We studies Greek and Roman Gods in the same year during school and I have had nothing but trouble separating the two ever since.  This made the Greek side much clearer…..more later..
