0704, Mon, 032315. Munjack Cay, Bahamas.
It is pouring rain this morning. What a surprise.
We were busy yesterday but all fun. Phil and I headed over to Bob and Jane's for a run out to the ocean side to do some fish hunting. Things were sparse but it is the end of the lobster season. We swam past a couple of sting rays, at least five feet across, and were watched by a six foot barracuda. We worked our way down the ridges to the southern end of the island with a pretty good haul of about seven lobster and one fish between us. The wind had picked up a little and the tide was dropping so it was time to get the boat through the cut in the island past Rat Cay. This is when the engine decided to act up, or should I say, quit. It would turn over but die right away. After tossing out an anchor so we wouldn't blow to sea and deciding who to call for help the engine must have gotten wind of our conversation and started right up. We were just in time to get through the shallows without an inch to spare and made it back to Bob and Jane's. We had to leave the skiff there since the waves were rough outside the cabin and the tide was out too far to get the dink to the back.
People are busy heading in different directions so we had my going away party last night. Gigi and Lulu, Gil and Nancy and of course us shared stories and has a simple gathering. Gil had been out after lobster and said he only got one. Of course the bragging started but the one was bigger than anything I have ever seen around here. It was well over finger tip to elbow, absolutely huge. They wrapped small pieces in bacon and then baked it. Very yummy. Gigi brought in some home made flan to add to the goodies while Lynda had made some home made bean dip. A great evening.....more later..
