We made it. We're back home. It is nice to be back on a real key board as well. Trying to type on Sue's notebook is just that, trying. The house survived just fine in our absence and we must put in a thanks to Michelle and Max for taking care of the garden.
Traveling went without a hitch although the waiting around was long between flights. As troubling as that is, waiting is still better than running from one end of the airport to the other wondering if you will make your connection. Our day started out at noon from Fairbanks flying to Anchorage, leaving Anchorage at midnight and flying to Seattle. Then we flew right past Sacramento to LA and finally making it back to Sac around 4:30. Michelle picked us up in Sac and brought us home.
Our long layover in Anchorage wasn't so bad, Peg and Cory picked us up at the airport and entertained us. We headed downtown for dinner and then picked up some dessert and headed to their place for the evening. About ten pm, still light out, we headed to the park just outside the airport to see if we could find the elusive moose. We not only found the moose but came across three of these beautiful creatures. So, only thing we didn't get a chance to see were the Northern Lights. Just an excuse to head back up there someday.
We survived the cold with warm weather throughout our trip. Even with snow one day it never was too horrible out. We had brought the extra suitcase full of clothes and it paid off just fine. Layers are the key, especially since it is warm inside. Lots of peeling layers off and on as you go from inside to out.
As usual, it is nice to be back home and in our own bed....more later..
