We are relaxing after a long trip on the road today. Our campground is nice and green, as everything is in this part of the world. Nebraska really fooled me at first, thinking that it would be flat as a pancake. It started out rolly but later lived up to its reputation. As for corn, Iowa has it beat all to heck, corn, corn, then some more corn, also very flat. You would think if corn grew they would be able to grow other crops as well. ????
Rest stops come in real handy to get out of the car and stretch now and then but the truckers are about as messy as one could be in the bathrooms. The weather has been bright and sunny as we have managed to dodge the bad weather that looks to be just south of us. We are having a hard time keeping up with the time changes, good thing the cell phone does it for us.
We stopped in Cheyenne to walk around a bit in the older section of town. They were having some sort of pioneer celebration but not much going on until later in the evening. The handicraft booths were fun to browse. One that stood out had lots of little projects made from wood. We ended up buying an ice cream. They made their own ice cream with a great set up, ice cream machine hooked up to an old fashioned engine that has one cylinder and almost sounds like it is going to die before kicking over one more time. It really fit into the old theme of things.
Today we drove through Lincoln, Nebraska then stopped at the Missouri River in Omaha for a walk and stretch. It was stinkin' hot, then on to Iowa. Tonight we are just outside Des Moines Iowa. The fire flies are out as well as the little bunnies. We have some flashes going on but no rain so far. We enjoyed a shower and a good swim before heading back to Tess...more later..
