0703, Thu, 072315. Rock Springs Wyoming.
We were going to stay at a rest stop then noticed a sign saying no camping so nixed that idea. Our travel book said that Wyoming allows ten hour stays at stops, oh well. We headed right down the side road and found a nice little KOA that fit the bill. We had a nice little rec room to play a round of cards (just hate that game), do a little walking around, read a bit then called it a day.
The night turned to ice cold. A good rain storm came through in the dark and the temps dropped. We got up and put on more clothes and huddled together waiting for the sun to come up. Finally. Off we went with heater cooking. We are at breakfast now, IHOP, and are well thawed.
Speed limits have changed gradually as we have toured. Most of Nevada was 75, Utah posts 80 as well as parts of Wyoming. They have lit speed signs so they can change the speed limit any time. Must get slower when it is snowing.
Scenery has changed dramatically from the highland deserts of Nevada to the salty flats of Utah. We are seeing more rock formations now in Wyoming. We even saw a house on the top of the hill with it's own observatory.
I believe Rock Springs was the name of the town in Cars. It looks just the same although I never saw Luigi's Tire Store. Oh, it also isn't on Route 66.....more later..
