1230, Wed, 072215. Salt Lake City, Utah.
We made it out of town a day late after a morning run around looking for a hose to fit our propane. Roseville Propane was recommended but they didn't open until 8:30. We found it with no problem but it looked like a dirt yard with a couple of shacks and a spot to fill tanks. It turned out the shacks were the office where there was an old fellow who fixed us up with the correct hose, regulator and we were good to go..
We made it as far as Carlin Nevada, almost to Utah. We stayed in a rest stop with the noise of the big rigs , generators and swoosh of brakes as they pulled in for a stop. We did do a little sight seeing, like a stop at Starbucks in Colfax. Then on to Reno for a lunch stop at a nice little park, St Patricks Grove in Rafael Park. Later we made a stop at Walmart to pick up a few items, such a luxury, and to Lowes to return all the extra propane hoses we hadn't yet destroyed. We got a few sprinkles and could see lots of rain all around. We could hear thunder but only saw one flash. We just smiled smugly.
This morning was a good start around sunrise. We toured across the salt flats stopping at a rest stop that oversaw the famous Bonneville raceway somewhere out in the distance. Then lots of desert. We are now enjoying lunch at the marina at the Great Salt Lake.....more later..
