Leaving Puerto Balandra behind, as well as leaving our friends on Amizade, as soon as the strong gusts of wind abated a bit we took off. We still had a good strong push of fifteen to twenty knots but once again it was at our backs and we were sailing happily with just the jib unfurled. After crossing the Channel we made it almost half way up the west shore of Isla Espiritu Santo before the winds died out and we had to resort to turning on the motor. We entered a bay at the north end of Isla Partida, our chosen destination, in a bay by the name of Ensenada El Cardonal. It is a long rectangular shape, almost a mile in length and we shared it with one other boat. I bet the wind could whistle through this spot pretty good since it almost penetrates to the other side of the island with the tall hills lining both sides.
After a nice lazy mid day I made the silly mistake of challenging Sue to a round of cards. Baja Rummy is played to 20,000 points and usually lasts three rounds to achieve this. Sue took the first two rounds leaving the point span so big that a smart man would have conceded. I hung in there and almost pulled off a win in the third round making for a real exciting ending to the game. Maybe next time.
We ran out of episodes to Glee so we are back to the movies. Something is wrong with our movies as the sound skips once in awhile making it real hard to pick up the story at times. We checked out several old movies, not being able to remember what we had seen, and ended up with Elizabeth. We had seen the movie about how she had become queen, this being later in life. Very well done but once again I am faced with lots of questions about how the royal hat is passed on. She never had an heir, so who came next? …..more later..
