Last night was once again one of those perfect nights. The air was cool, not a whisper of wind and very quiet. We had lifted the anchor in Caleta Candeleros Chico, made the pass through the obstacles around the point and into our present location, maybe a five mile trip.
One of our new neighbors came by, Tom along with pooch Teeter from Someday Ish. They live in San Diego where Tom is a helicopter pilot for the fire department. They come down for ten days at a time whenever they can. His wife Mary was busy on board with the internet so Tom was out scouting around with his sidekick.
Candeleros is a big bay with a huge resort along the beach, Las Palmas. The resort is still getting the finishing touches but we see a little activity from vacationers. I started to tell Sue that I could see workers buzzing around the hotel, but then corrected myself saying that there were lots of people dressed like workers but hiding out in the shadows on the porches of the various rooms, ha. Looks like maybe an apprentice program for a gas and electric company or the telephone company. We had a drive by from a young couple paddling their kayak. I asked where they were from and they said San Francisco, I called back I had grown up in Berkeley. After so many years in the Caribbean it still seems strange to meet people from the old digs. Heading around the bay there is a little grass shack that looks like it may be a small bar/restaurant and a kayak rental shop. You can see the main road into the hotel, still under construction, along the shore, then at the north end of the bay is an area set up to launch boats, maybe more for the locals. The parking lot is full of cars and trucks, must be fifty or more vehicles. Starting to look a little like the US.
Last night's movie was another oldie with Maurice Chevalier in Gigi. Good old fashion entertainment. As a young man I once saw Maurice in person. He was as entertaining in person as he was in the movie, love that smile…..more later..
