0731, Mon, 012312.     La Paz.     We went on a big adventure yesterday, a trip by bus to The Home Depot.  We talked with our friends on RNR since they had done the trip already.  It was pretty simple really and went slick as a whistle.  We headed out of the marina and walked a couple of blocks to where the bus would pass.  No sooner did we get there and the next vehicle to pass was our bus.  Like a small school bus, nothing fancy but being Sunday, no chickens.  The path the bus took must have some reason but we wandered all over town all the while getting closer to THD.  It showed up clear on the other end of town, we got off, crossed the main street, and were at the front door.  We found some line I needed, changed plans on some hardware, and couldn't find any wood putty.  We walked the aisles one by one and never found any putty at all, plenty of caulking but that won't do.  We had to go right past Wal-Mart for the bus so we poked in there and they too had the same section of glues and caulking but no wood putty.  I don't think the local workers finish anything that well, no need for the stuff.  We headed out to the curb finding the shady bench and the bus was along within five minutes.  We wandered through town once again and found our way back to a short walk to the marina.

It turned out to be quite windy yesterday, something that wasn't predicted but it calmed some in the evening.  We got a call from RNR saying they were ready to leave the docks so we headed in with the dinghy to help be their tug boat as they maneuvered out of their tight spot.  It worked out perfectly with just a little nudge on the side of the bow and they were off.  Once they dropped the hook they came over for cards where we exchanged one for one which is a big win for us guys since we usually lose, ha.

RNR is having motor problems, unable to get their engine restarted, but such is boating, harrumph (or stink! Our new word for bummers).

While we played, a boat came in and anchored right on top of us. We went out to explain he was too close and he agreed.  As he brought up the anchor he got crosswise to the wind and we hurried out as their bow passed real close to ours.  No harm, just another part of cruising.  They moved to another spot and once again got chased away for being too close.  Finally they dropped the hook at the end of the crowd and spent the night.  Unfortunately the military will be by to claim their waters and tell them to move on.  Why doesn't the military put out a couple of buoys?  Guess they keep busy chasing us yachties away.

With the card game complete, the waters nice and calm, our day was over and time for the movie.  Those poor slobs just keep sticking their foot in the mess.  Oh well, just TV…..more later…
