0734, Sat, 050512. Puerto Escondido. The fest has kicked into high gear with games, seminars, and entertainment. There is a silent auction with lots of items to choose from as well as a food booth, beer booth, and a booth for kids' entertainment. We have taken in a couple of seminars so far. The first one was on bottom fishing. This guy made it sound so easy that we might even try it out. He gave us the info and went on to say that if you don't get a bite within a couple of minutes, move on. He claims you should be able to get plenty of fish in a half hour to an hour. Now that is my kind of fishing. Then he showed us the tackle you need. He started of with a plastic bottle to wrap the line around and worked his way down to the leader with a bolt for a bottom weight. We learned a couple of knots and were anxious to go. Then he pulled out a couple of fish and showed everyone a couple of ways to prepare them. Great class.
Later in the day we tried to hook up on the pressure cooking class but didn't find it until after it had started. Oh well, Sue has that department pretty much under control, even rebuking the instructor when he said he never cooks rice in his cooker.
Russ and Janet have been busy on the game scene with horse shoes, bocce ball, and another game similar to what we used to call five hundred. Russ took a flying dive on the dirt field to catch a winning ball and has the scrapes to show for it. What a guy. They have been busy at the card tables of which I'm glad I didn't get hooked into. Of course the games don't go off as scheduled and poor Janet said she got severely scolded by the queen of the card table for being late. Hey, this is
We joined the local yacht club which got us a free dinner of tacos. It consisted of some great flavored chicken, rice, and beans with a slice of water melon. In the evening we had fun dancing to a pretty good band and were complemented on our dancing skills by several cruisers. We can't shut down the house like we did in the old days, but it is still quite fun.
Although way past our bed time, we did get in a couple more episodes of Sopranos. I guess that means we are hooked
..more later..
