It was a normal day, going about our chores, reading and just plain hanging out. We did have our card game in the afternoon with Jim and Jeanie. The fiasco with the police and the replacement of the stone on the planter in town is now over. They headed into town, paid the policeman 100 pesos and so all is settled. It will be interesting to see if the rock ever gets glued back on.
We had our first Chubasco warning last night. We had settled in for the movie when someone came on the VHF and warned everyone in the area of the possibility. A chubasco is a violent, but short-lived squall, usually accompanied by thunder, lightning, rain, and strong winds. Chubascos are summer time convection storms that can hit at any time from the late afternoon to early morning. That definition is taken right from the cruiser's guide. Someone new to the area asked what this was all about so to add to that we learned that the thunderstorms on the mainland can throw an offshoot and send a cell across the Sea. We put a hold on the movie and ran around outside taking down the new shade cover, packing the kayak, and putting the boom in place making sure nothing was out to blow away. It took about fifteen minutes and we were as set as we could be. Back to the movie.
Deception was playing. This was a good movie, no big names in it though, but that doesn't always make the difference. I'll let you figure out the deception.
Oh, we made it through the night without our Chubasco, but I would rather go to all the trouble to make sure we are ready than to have it hit by surprise
.more later..
