Unbelievable. It is like a millpond here in
We took it easy, like good cruisers, waiting out the morning before heading back, trying to time the winds and current. We raised anchor just after lunch and actually had a little wind heading our direction. I put out the jib and got a little boost, but then the wind died. It came back, shifting around to the beam. But by that time we were getting close to town and I had already brought the sail in, so we motored the rest of the way. We found our old spot, dropped the hook, and were home once again. Across the way, a good size boat looked to be stuck in the mud, oops, a little too shallow for her draft. It was low tide now and luckily she still had a ways to go before dunking her port holes in the water. It is just real eerie to see a boat listing that much. The only thing to do is wait for the high tide and hope it is high enough to release the keel from the mud. That is one huge advantage of a cat, if they get stuck they sit upright. There are two kinds of sailors, those who have been stuck, and those who lie. Hey, we have only been stuck twice, trying to sneak through the shallows.
It was our son's birthday so we got to talk with him on the phone for a bit, always a highlight of the day.
Movie time: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. We should have known from the title. It was entertaining but I wouldn't go out of my way to find this one
..more later..
