We had a busy day yesterday. First off, we had to ready Neos for going into her slip. That's right, we have a trip back to the States planned if a few days. Out came the fenders, then all the lines to tie up. Our plan was to wait for slack tide, really hard to maneuver in tight places with a tide pushing the boat in odd directions, and hope for the best on the wind.
Finally it was time to go. The wind was down to a breeze, I thought we could handle that. Of course the tide was zero. Anchor up and away we went.
As we entered the marina the guard at the front dock waved us down a different channel than where we thought our slip was. That was fine by me, really perfect. That is where I wanted to be anyhow. For starters, it left us a lot more room for getting in and out of the slip. We did just that, slipped right in without a problem. A couple of neighboring boat captains were out to help as well as the guards. It never went better.
Next project was to figure out this billing for getting the chain galvanized. We went to the marina office where the manager speaks fluent English. He was nice enough to call Carlos, the delivery guy, and as we suspected, the conversion from pounds to kilograms was backwards. This double the weight instead of cutting it in half. So now we are happy with the transportation costs.
Sue headed for the showers while I went back to the boat and got the chain ready to put into a bin and set on the dock. The meant removing the anchor, 55 pounds, then once Sue got back I put the dink below the bow of the boat as we let the chain out right into a bucket in the dink. Then we turned the dink around and man handled the chain to the dock into another container. A day's work done, whew.
We sat on the back of the boat with our sundowners, calm seas, and simply relaxing after a long day. Oh, somewhere in there one of the neighbors came over, new to cruising, and had never been on a cat. She had a friend that might want to buy a cat so what the heck, we gave her a tour. Then we helped with lines as we got another cat right next to our slip, so all in all, a busy day
.more later..
