O747, Sun, 041213.  Marina Cortez

Rog is busy making eggs in a frame for my Mother's Day breakfast.  Since he is busy doing all of the morning chores, I thought I would write the blog.

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous.  It is cool at night and warm during the day…perfect weather with none of the allergies our CA folk are suffering from.  We took a walk down to Centro and I bought nuts at my "feed and seed" store.  This is a pet store that has shelves and shelves of seeds, nuts, and grains.  I stocked up on pecans and almonds.  Then we went a couple of blocks to catch the 8Oct bus to head out to the hospital.  The pharmacy was out of my cholesterol meds when we left last month, so I wanted to pick them up.  Unfortunately, they are still out of pravastatina so I will have to try again next month.   We got back for lunch and I was just getting started with it when the marina office called…our chain was here.  But we owed money??   Rosie, the gal in the marina office, helped us straighten out the mess with the driver.  She had helped us with the pickup of the chain and remembered that we had paid for a round trip.  I brought her the emails and receipt and she talked to the main Castores office.  They finally agreed that I had paid enough and gave the ok to the driver to drop the chain off.  He had parked outside of the marina somewhere and said he would meet us in the parking lot.  We waited and waited….I didn't see a truck anywhere.  I had images of him leaving us in the lurch for not paying the extra money.  But finally I saw a kid huffing and puffing, pushing a dolly into the parking lot.  God knows how far he had to push that dolly with 450 pounds of chain on it!  We got him into the marina, down the dock and all of the way to Neos.  Project accomplished!!  The galvanizing job looks great, but the container is trashed.

After lunch, Rog worked on his genealogy project again…what a lame excuse to get out of cards!!!  I continued the laundry project.  While we are in a marina with water available, I try to clean all of the heavy stuff: blankets, bedspreads, pillows, mattress covers and cushions.  Since it was Saturday, that also meant the sheets.  Doing all of these by hand is an interesting project.  I could do what most cruisers do and take it to the launderia, but I sort of enjoy doing it myself.  I can't imagine using a washing machine again after 8 years of doing laundry by hand.

We started watching War Horse but Rog was doing more snoring than watching, so I stopped it to save the finish for tonight.  I think it is a beautiful movie…can't imagine why he finds it a sleeper! More from the big guy later….
