We went to the local building department to see if we could get some answers on setbacks and especially on the setback from a seasonal creek.  What a nice office.  Good to see that our tax money is spent frugally.  Too bad it is highly inefficient.  Perhaps they could have forgone the Corian countertops and put a computer at the front desk.  In the short time we were there we watched as the clerk came to the front desk to answer questions then had to go to his office to look up the answers.  One customer, using common sense, suggested that he go with the clerk so he didn't have to keep running back and forth.  No way, there is a rule that doesn't allow the taxpayers behind the desk.

That aside, we found the clerk got the same wrong lot when using Google to locate the property.  We tried to show him which lot on his printout of Google and he was off to his office to do some more research.  Finally he came back with the setbacks for the edges but nothing on the seasonal stream since none of his information showed a seasonal stream.  What the heck, until we can come up with a parcel map showing a seasonal creek he couldn't tell us the setback.  He suggested going to the county to get a parcel map.  I asked if the setback was figured out on a case by case basis or if there was something in the code that covered a general setback in such cases.  He was still puzzled.  Bureaucracy.

We were off to the store, something more productive.  Costco was bustling.  We didn't need a lot, mostly fresh fruit and veggies.  Wow, so easy.  Simply park the dinghy (oops, car) at the dock right out front of the place and walk right in the front door.  How easy life is.

I spent some more time with genealogy, getting all the people lined up with the King of England.  It turned out to be about 24 generations that line up to good ole King Edward.  Ha.

Netflix for the eve.  We watched Battle of the Brave.  Ok but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.  The father is up for the murder of his daughter's husband.  Finally it gets pinned on the daughter after the maid points her out to be a witch and goes into convulsions.  The mother is hanged and years later we find out it was the daughter's little girl who did it and they were all covering for her……more later..
