Assembly of the countertop has started. I am about halfway through. The little stripe is thin enough to put together with glue and screws, predrilling all the holes and counter sinking the screws. The bigger pieces are put together with a loose tenon. The only hitch there is, the router won't fit into place to route the mortise. Instead, I have a new tool. It is a wheel that fits on the side grinder that has chainsaw teeth. It removes wood instantly. I made a small platform to rest the body of the grinder on and can make a groove in the wood, more of a spline joint or a biscuit cut. Then I make a custom tenon that fits in the groove. This has worked out well although I have another idea for the next connection.
Karissa has been having trouble sleeping lately. She was given the ultimatum, take a nap or miss out on the trip to Pops and Gams in the afternoon. She took the nap. Sue worked on some secret projects with them all having a good time.
Sue has decided to spend two hours in the garden each week. She works in the front yard one week then the backyard the next. Her goal is to fill the two garbage containers with trimmings. So far she has been able to fill them up quite quickly….more later..
