Interesting finds along the way. I discovered the main service (electrical panel) does not have a separate grounding bar. I guess this is the way it used to be done. All the grounds went to the neutral bar and shared. The only problem with this system is, we now have four wire 240 volt machines (ovens). The older ovens had no electronics so only needed three wires, no ground needed. When the 240 is broken down using one leg (120V) for the electronics it needs a separate ground from the neutral so a short doesn't backfeed to the machine and shock the user. Anyhow, I'm trying to figure how to remedy this situation. I think I can work it out by running a separate ground to a water pipe. Ah, McGiver, you are so smart.
We were visited by the Bloom family yesterday. It is always fun to show off what has been done since it seems like so little while you are there everyday. The kids headed straight out to the playhouse that is now stocked up with empty grocery containers.
So, more progress around the homestead. Work is backing up to getting that gas line changed. If only reality matched what gets done in the middle of the night it would be complete by now. Oh well….more later..
