0758, Sun, 030214. Rocklin, CA.

I started out up the hill at karate class. There were a couple of new faces at class that I hadn't seen in a long time. Brent has been trying to keep up with life and taking care of his father from a distance. It was great catching up with him. Gordon Ainsliegh, a real character, was there, but not able to do much with bad hips and a lousy shoulder. Afterwards, we stopped for a cup of coffee and listened to some crazy stories told by Gordy. This guy must be nuts. He was at an event in Mr. Oshima's presence and decided to stalk him to see if Mr. Oshima really was hard to sneak up on. (Mr. Oshima is the head of Shotokan in America.) He said that in about 30 seconds and a distance of about ten feet, Mr Oshima turned and gave him a look that penetrated him. It was years before Mr. Oshima would take his eyes off old Gordy in his presence. What was he thinking?
At the house. With a struggle with the heating ducts in the attic they are now in their new places and well secured. Sue helped out fitting the parts together, never an easy task since they don't make a real nice fit, always looking like two tubes of the exact same circumference trying to be forced together. We won out in the end and I was able to install the last pieces of that….more later.
